LM (Laing O’Rourke and J. Murphy & Sons) working on behalf of HS2, are remodelling and improving sections of the existing road network in the area and creating new routes on HS2 land. These road improvements will ensure that when the future HS2 Interchange Station is operational, the local road network is fit for purpose. Upon completion, a new T-junction (started in April 2021) will replace Northway Island. A new ‘longabout’ is already in operation outside the Holiday Inn Express NEC, on the way to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC).

To enable them to connect parts of the existing road network to the new routes they have created, a series of weekend road closures will take place on and around Northway Island. LM will conclude this programme by installing two final weekend closures in April 2022.

A temporary, weekend road closure will be installed around parts of Northway Island, and along short sections of the B4438 southbound and A452 northbound, from 8pm on Friday 1 April through to 5am on Monday 4 April.

Northway will also be closed from 10pm Friday 1 April through to 8am on Saturday 2 April.

LM will install a temporary, weekend road closure around parts of Northway Island, and along short sections of the B4438 northbound and A452 northbound and southbound from 6am on Saturday 9 April through to 5am on Monday 11 April.

A signed diversion route will be in place for road users during both weekend road closures.
