Solihull Council is looking for an independent member to join its Audit Committee.
The Audit Committee has a key role to play in ensuring the Council’s governance, financial procedures and risk management processes are sound, which is particularly pertinent during this time in which we face unprecedented financial challenges.
The Council is looking to appoint a volunteer to the role of an independent member, who will work with and support the Council’s elected members of the committee.
The successful candidate will need to be totally independent of the Council and preferably live or work in the borough of Solihull. Anyone who is or has been in the last five years, a Councillor, an employee of the Council or closely associated with anyone who has been a Councillor or employee of the Council cannot be an independent member.
The independent member will be expected to attend up to six afternoon meetings and/or training sessions a year and be available to liaise with senior council officers on an ad-hoc basis.
Whilst this is a voluntary role, the Council will cover all travel and subsistence expenses incurred through time spent on the Committee.
The closing date for applications is Friday 15 August.
The application form can be found in the latest news section on the Council’s website.
