Swimming pools in Solihull will open for lane swimming on Saturday 1 August, after extensive work by Solihull Council and Everyone Active in order to adapt the pools for social distancing.
Tudor Grange Leisure Centre and North Solihull Sports Centre are managed by sports and leisure operator Everyone Active in partnership with Solihull Council. The centres reopened their doors on Saturday 25 July for gym access and fitness classes and will now open their pools also.
Everyone Active’s procedures will ensure social distancing is managed throughout the centres and regular cleaning is maintained. There will be a one-way system in place upon entry and throughout the centres (where possible). Other measures to ensure social distancing will include the limiting of swimming at the two centres to lane swimming only. Swimmers will operate in double width lanes in reduced numbers and for limited time periods. The shower facilities will also be unavailable in order to keep all swimmers safe.
A booking system has also been introduced to manage occupancy levels and to avoid overcrowding. All customers will be required to pre-book for a session via a booking system.
When customers book a swimming session they will have to pick a slow, medium or fast lane. This is important as swimmers cannot stop once they are in the pool in order to maintain social distancing.
Each session will be a maximum of 50 minutes long, with 10 minutes at the end to allow for cleaning.
