BIRMINGHAM AIRPORT – PLANNING APPLICATION TO INCREASE NIGHT FLIGHTS

The Parish Council has been notified of a planning application by Birmingham Airport seeking to change the existing Section 106 agreement relating to night flights (PL/2024/0197/M106 – see link below).

The application includes a request to increase the number of night flights from the current 5171 per annum (5% of total Air Traffic Movements) to an average of 7.3% (forecast to be 7227 rising to 7600), an increase of 47% over the period of the 3-year agreement. The application also seeks changes to noise levels and quota count.

The Parish Council believes these proposals are unacceptable and will be submitting comments to SMBC accordingly. Residents can submit their own comments by using the above link or by email to Lawrence Osborne at Solihull MBC – [email protected]. Comments should be submitted as soon as possible and no later than 31 October 2024.
