As part of their ongoing Junction 6 work, Skanska need to remove two existing gantries on the southbound junction 6 exit slip road, shown in red on the image below. To allow them to carry out this work safely, they will be closing the southbound exit slip road overnight on 25, 26 and 27 September, from 10pm to 5am. Traffic management will be removed outside of these hours.
Although every effort has been made to minimise disruption, there may be longer than usual journey times so please plan ahead and allow extra time for your journey.
Why is this road closure needed?
Due to the size of the machinery needed to complete the gantry removal, this closure is required to ensure the safety of our workforce and to protect motorists.
Every effort will be made to complete this work as soon as possible and minimise the disruption to the local area. Skanska apologise in advance for any inconvenience you may experience during the upcoming work.
During the closure, a clearly signed diversion route will be in place. Motorists will be directed southbound on the M42 where they can exit at junction 5, returning on the M42 northbound, where they can exit at junction 6 and proceed with their journey.
