Remembrance Day 2022

On Sunday, 13 November, the nation will honour the fallen of two World Wars and those how have sacrificed their lives in service of their country.

As in previous years, a Memorial Service will take place at St Leonards Church at 10:00am followed by a parade to the Garden of Memory where a short service (including the traditional 2 minute silence) will be held.

Wear a poppy, by Roger Hateley

They are the ones whose lives are gone.

In Ypres, Passchendaele, Flanders, Somme.

They fought with pride and bravery too.

They fought for me, they fought for you.

In other conflicts far and wide,

Many fought; too many died.

They lie in fields so far away,

They never saw another day.

Passing years may fade and go,

But all those graves row on row,

Remind us of some ones lost life,

Remind us of their sacrifice.

Remember well those lives we’ve lost,

For they all came at so great a cost.

Wear a poppy, wear it with pride

Wear it for those that sadly died.
